The Apex Clean Energy Challenges space

Apex Clean Energy is a US-based utility-scale renewable energy project developer, owner, and operator. Our Asset Management Operations department operates 2 GW of wind and solar plants. The Apex Clean Energy Challenges space brings together researchers with real data and challenges provided by Apex Clean Energy.
WeDoWind Challenges are concrete tasks set by Challenge Providers that are solved by Solution Developers:
  • Challenge Providers receive diverse state-of-the-art solutions to their problems from international teams, increased visibility and contact with the research community.
  • Solution Developers get access to relevant problems and data from the industry and get visibility within a vibrant international research and teaching community.
WeDoWind Challenges can also be accompanied with other activities to foster collaboration such as lectures, events, workshops, webinars, Q&A sessions.
The first challenge in this space is the Challenge: FAIR Schemas for Wind Turbine SCADA Data. The goal of this challenge is to co-develop FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) open-source semantics for wind turbine SCADA (meta)data with Apex that we can centrally maintain and instantiate within our various digital systems, namely as User-Defined Types (UDTs) in our SCADA software and as dimensional tables within our SQL data warehouse service.
The defined semantics in this challenge should be built as JSON schema due to their broad interoperability within our systems and others; they will be published to Octue Strands, which offers version control and potential for these artifacts to fit seamlessly into broader usage contexts. While we are open to other languages and repositories to which respondents can publish these semantic definitions, these offer known solutions we are confident we can implement effectively.
This space is lead by Lewis Armistead, Data Operations Manager at Apex Clean Energy and co-founder of the ENTR Alliance.
